Rocker Adam Levine launches fashion label

Jeans DesignersMaroon 5 singer joins the charge of musicians who are turning into fashion designers. Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has branched out into a range of garments for both sexes now, with the line due to debut at the Project Trade Show in Las Vegas later this week. The label, called 222, is minimalist in its styling approach and includes jeans, t-shirts and leathers for men – as well as pared-down dresses and wraps for his female followers.

“I'm passionate about fashion. I think it says something about yourself and, whether you care about clothes or not, what you wear reflects some kind of attitude towards style,” he told the trade newspaper Women’s Wear Daily.

To nonplussed fans who don’t particularly rate Levine for his fashion sense (although he did display a penchant for Balenciaga early on in his career), the rocker feels he can make it work because of his father’s fashion business sense:

Mike Rowe Takes Dirty to a New Level: Saving Men From $250 Embellished Jeans

Jeans DesignersMike Rowe has teamed up with Lee Jeans to share his common-sense philosophy on denim – a straight-forward approach that mirrors the 120-year-old brand known for its authentic quality. Rowe, creator and star of the Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs,” is not shy about what he looks for in a pair of blue jeans. “It’s pretty simple,” said Rowe. “They should last. They should fit. They should fade. They should never cost more than fifty bucks. And they should be blue.”

Rowe’s attitude about shopping for jeans will be central to the campaign. “Frankly, I’ve never understood the whole notion of jamming yourself into a dressing room with an armful of new styles to find the ‘perfect look,’” said Rowe. “And from what I’ve seen, I’m not alone. The guys I know aren’t going to spend a hundred dollars on a pair of pants with rhinestones and fake stains and zippers to nowhere. And don't even get me started on jeans with rips and holes already in them. Madness.”

Evisu the re-launching of the brand with a new collection

Jeans DesignersEvisu is now re-launching its brand with a new collection for men and women. The collection pays homage to the roots of the brand and will focus on the quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity that made Evisu the IT jeans in late-90s, when there was a long waiting list for the 12 pairs that retailers received each month. Evisu was also the first denim brand to sell in mass for over $100 a pair.

Evisu’s new collection will be available exclusively at selected retailers. The re-launch initially includes 3 collections for men and women with no 2 pairs of jeans alike:

The Evisu Genes, Evisu, and the very exclusive Private Stock (which will sell as high as US$ 700 per pair). Private Stock with unique quality, one-of-a-kind pieces, and hand painted logo and numbered. For this line craftsmen use various techniques to create unique details.

The denim jacket is back with a bang this season!

Jeans DesignersAlexa Chung, Nicole Richie and Diane Kruger are just a few our celebrity friends that have been rocking their denim jackets this spring.

Thankfully it’s one of the easiest trends to pull off, all you have to do is team it with your peg or harem trousers, add some brightly colored wedges and voilà, your new look is totally spring ’09.

Alexander Wang, Balmain and Marc By Marc Jacobs all included denim in their collections. Who could forget the frenzy caused by the Balmain ripped jeans that have been seen on the slender legs of Victoria Beckham and Rihanna.

For jeans makers, it's all about the rear pocket

Jeans DesignersAnyone who recalls disco-era designer jeans knows you could spot a pair of Gloria Vanderbilts across a dance floor. Or Calvins. Or (ooo, la la) Sassoon. Each brand's back pocket bore an unmistakable squiggle or swirl.

Not so today, when stitches skitter across derrières according to designers' moods. Some sew it old school, with distinctive symbols - True Religion's "U" stitch; Guess' classic triangle. But Guess jeans also bear arches, script "Gs" and rhinestone roses. James Jeans backs up its brand with buttons, pleats or stitched loops. Victoria Beckham is gaga for glitz: Her 2004 collection produced with Rock & Republic embellished rumps with crystal crowns; her new dVb line, mega stars. Antik Denim, Marc Ecko and Coogi splash loud designs over the seats of men's jeans.
