China is to provide further tariff cut on Pakistan import of denim cotton fabrics, man-made fabrics, and home textiles, according to Ma Yi, a senior member of China's Textile Association.

Any reduction is expected to effectively push up Pakistan's textile export, which represents a significant 70 percent of Pakistan's total export to China.

With the Early Harvest Program (EHP), which came into effect for the Pakistan-China bilateral trade in March last year, the two countries have been pro-actively seeking collaboration in various areas.

Seven For All Mankind, the seven-year-old Los Angeles denim company that helped usher in the era of $200 designer jeans, was sold yesterday to the VF Corporation for $775 million. VF Corp. the apparel company that owns jeans brands like Wrangler, Lee, Riders and Rustler.

VF Corporation said yesterday that it had acquired Lucy, a women's activewear company.

The two brands are the latest in VF's spree of acquisitions - it also owns Vans, Reef, Kipling and Napapijri and will serve as the foundation for a new unit of contemporary brands for the company. The moves may signal that VF plans to make more deals for fast-growing, high-profile apparel makers.
The acquisition of Seven For All Mankind will put VF squarely in the ultraluxury denim market, which did not exist a decade ago. VF's other denim brands, Lee and Wrangler, are positioned farther down the market.

Denim maker files lawsuit against teen clothier Abercrombie & Fitch, over theft of its trademarked back-pocket design.

This lawsuit, the second in a short time, this time against retailer Abercrombie & Fitch that it illegally stole its Levi trademarked back-pocket stitching design.

Last week Levi's filed the same lawsuit against Polo Ralph Lauren. Levi's said Polo Ralph Lauren "has in the past and continues to manufacture, source, market and/or sell clothing that displays stitching designs that are confusingly similar to Levi Strauss & Co.'s arcuate trademark."
